I brought this book just when I began getting back into reading, and it was at the airport on the way to Poland where I was visiting auschwitz.
I stayed up in bed one night to finish the whole thing.
This is the most heartwarming and heartbreaking story entangled in one and the story will carry with me forever. I also always love books based on a true story, as I feel it’s so much more relatable as I read through, and I am able to imagine real life lots more. I was still thinking about this story for weeks after I put this book down. There are some scenes of violence but they’re not overly horrific and graphic, making this book one of the ones about Holocaust that is not so hard hitting, but still gets it point across.
It’s very hard to write a true story with such character development, but it’s lovely that there is photos of the two at the end so you can put names to faces
