I love history so I was sure I was going to love this book. This book follows Lale's story in his struggle in the nazi concentration camps in world war 2. When Lale is taken to a camp he encounters the tattooist of the camp. The tattooist needed an apprentice so he takes Lale on. Though being the tattooist is a hard and disturbing job, it comes with certain privileges and unforgettable encounters. Lale meets Gita, a girl who is in the camp too and it is love at first sight. We follow their fight for their freedom, friendship and love. This book is based on a true story. Lale asked Heather Morris to write his and Gita's story of survival and love in the nazi war camps. I would push this book on anyone. It was a real eye opener for me, to almost have a first hand experience of the brutal and horrific scenes that happened inside a nazi camp. This was certainly a five star read!
