I enjoyed The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris. It is based on a true story, although seems loosely based. The story is about Lale Sokolov, a slovakian jew. He was forcibly sent to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in 1942 and became the tattooist of Auschwitz. While there he me and fell in love with Gita.

It seems a lot of hours of interviewing went into the preparation for this book, but I am not sure how much of the factual information was then written into the text.
I enjoyed this book as a work of fiction, and know some of this story did happen, however my understanding of Auschwitz from other books I have read on this subject, is that it was a far bleaker time than this book portrays.
