The tattooist of Auschwitz is a very moving novel that provides some very detailed sections of Lale’s experiences and insight into some of the SS guards brutal personalities. I had tears in my eyes most of the time. I have read numerous books based on Auschwitz and have visited the camp myself so it was good to connect the places that were mentioned in the book and connect with them on a personal level via my memories of my visit. I also loved seeing the genuine photos of the Lale, Gita and the authors’ “behind the scenes” chapters. The author also writes each chapter in a great, easy to read format with no personal stain/insight anywhere so Lales’ story is reflected perfectly. I will definitely read this novel over again.
