From the moment I saw the cover and read the synopsis and opening chapter, I knew this book would be for me.
Telling the true story of Lale, from leaving is family to be taken to Auschwitz and his time there, we are taken on a roller coaster ride of Lale's bravery, ingenuity, emotion and instinct to survive under such horrendous conditions. The love story between Lale and Gita is so charming, demonstrating that love can thrive and win out, even when everything is stacked against it!
You really are rooting for Lale, Gita and their friends to survive and make a life for themselves after the war is over.
I finished reading this book a week ago and have thought about it many times since. It's one that will stay with me for a long time
