This is such an important and needed book. The stories of the lives of the people who lived through the horrific experience of the Nazi rein need to be told so that it can never happen again.
It’s a well written book which is paced well. Due to the short-ish chapters and attachment to the story, it forces you to carry on reading.
Heather Morris also ensures that everyone is able to follow the story and timeline, whether they’re familiar with Auschwitz and Birkenau or not, which is why it is a novel everyone should read.
The urgency in getting this story told is admitted at the end of the novel, which grounds the story more and encourages the reader to want to explore more of these stories; the one’s that soon won’t be able to be told by the person who actually lived it.
