I could not put this book down.

The Tattooist of Auschwitz is such a moving account of real events that occurred during WW2. Despite the severity of the atrocities carried out at Auschwitz-Birkenau, Heather Morris is able to marvellously retell the story of events with a lighter tone that captures strength, emotion and humanity through the lives of the main characters. Each turn of the page pushes the reader to want to find out more about the characters (based on real people), and how they were able to find joy in a time of darkness and despair. I am not usually one for showing emotion when reading, however the intensity and power behind the story of these characters and their journey for survival that brought tears to my eyes. Harrowing - yes. Gripping - definitely.
