This book is without a doubt 5 stars for me. The whole book will take over you when reading. It is impossible to fully imagine what millions of people went through during the Holocaust. This wonderfully heartbreaking book shows you an insight into the awful experiences of some of the people who survived, and some who did not survive, the Holocaust. It took me a while to finish this book because of the heavy subject matter, however, no matter how difficult it was to read, i think it’s so important that we know what these people went through.
The tragic story is oftentimes so difficult to read that it’s hard to remember that this was real life for millions of people. Reading this book will make you think about so many things, about history, and the way ‘different’ people are treated and about the strength of humans. It also shows you just how cruel and disgusting some individuals can be.
This is a heartbreaking read and not for the faint hearted but absolutely worth it.
