The fact that this book is based upon the incredible true story of Lale Sokolov makes it all the more emotional and saddening to read; Heather Morris does an incredible job of telling the events of Lale at Auschwitz concentration camp, telling an amazing love story set in devastating times. Lale is such a likeable character throughout, and it is amazing to follow his courage and bravery to keep Gita safe. The book is filled with hope and it was interesting for the story to be told from someone working in the concentration camp, and the struggles they had to deal with each day. This book would make a beautiful film and I would highly recommend this to anyone, especially those who enjoyed reading other similar books like the renowned 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas'.
