What an incredibly powerful story, as I was reading I kept going this can not be true, this can not possibly have happened even though I know it did, it is history and a true story. The harrowing truth of the holocaust has been portrayed sensitively and with care by this author. You can tell that this means a lot to them and that they have tried to do justice to Lale and Gita's story. It really makes you feel all of the emotions throughout the entire book and just when you think they have been through the worst, more happens to them. As I came to the end of Lale and Gita’s story there were many tears shed, a bitter sweet ending, and it is a book I will be left thinking about long after finishing reading it.
