I think what makes this book so vivid is the fact that the Author has many interesting interviews with Lale the main character his courage and positivity in the face of exstreme horror and utter despair makes you realise how it would have felt to witness these events
The book is so well written that all your senses become so aware that you are transported into the camp
It is an incredible account spanning several years of imprisonment and Lale definitely had 7 lives. It also made you realise how completely brain washed the SS guards were into how they hated the Jews and the Gypsies Although a friendship of a type was evident
The love story that was evident in the first chapter was even more powerful than I first imagined
