I was rather disappointed with this book because some of the things described in the storyline was just not believable or realistic for what is known about those death camps and when writing about the holocaust, I feel like it’s important to show the inhumanity and this book just didn’t do it. E.g. how Lyle and Gita regularly met up behind the administration building to be with each other. Or how they made love several times in a barracks block and fell asleep in each other's arms. Or how Lyle regularly met Gita and her friends on his movements around the camp, while they were on their way back to their block or while waiting in line for their dinner. In actual reality this would’ve never happened.

Other then that I didn’t mind the plot and storyline I just think the setting it was in was not the right setting for this love story. I found it sweet and sad and gut wrenching but also unrealistic and over the top.
