I read this book in one sitting, I could not put it down and was absolutely obsessed with the story of Lale and obviously the blossoming romance between Lale and Gita.
Lale is beyond a hero, I fell in love with him from the start and honestly what an amazing human being. It is so difficult to even comprehend what people went through at Auschwitz and to go above and beyond putting your life at risk so many times just to help others is amazing. It must have been an honour and privilege to meet Lale Sokolov, one I can only imagine was as emotional and harrowing as the book itself.
Heather Morris tells this tale absolutely fantastically and I routed for Lale and Gita and the other characters the whole way through. I cannot wait for Cilka's Journey to come out in paperback as I need to hear about these absolutely remarkable unsung heroes and what they did during this despicable and tragic time. This is a must read for absolutely everyone, one of my all time favourite books!
