I love reading historical fiction based on real-life stories, and this book is the perfect combination.
The story of the Tattooist of Auschwitz is so heartbreaking and wonderful, without forgetting it is real: I adored how the author reported the story of the two protagonists so accurately and religiously. She portrayed quite greatly life in the biggest, most tremendous concentration camp that existed during the Second World War, giving a realistic picture of what it was like living during the years 1939-1945, and what people had to do in order to survive.
The writing is incredibly suggestive and clear, the scenes almost become alive in your head.
After 'The Book Thief,' this will always be my favourite book about WWII.
I absolutely recommend reading both this book and its sequel, 'Cilka's journey.'
