This book had me gripped right from the start.
The author does a fantastic job of portraying the rawness of the nightmare that was Auschwitz whilst still showing the small acts of kindness that helped people survive. She made you fall in love with the characters, and really shows you the strength of the human spirit.
This book was very moving the whole way through, and although it has been proved that some parts were not historically accurate, it is a great piece of historical fiction.
The author has written this book with sensitivity to the subject and it shows. I found the facts at the end of the book very interesting, it puts what you’ve just read into perspective seeing how much of it is real. It was also nice to be able to see where some of the characters ended up.
This is one of my all time favourite books and one that I always recommend to anyone.
