You can't help but be horrified all over again about the cruelty and atrocities humanity is capable of no matter how well documented they are,but you also have to admire people's capacity to find hope in the most impossible situations. This book is a beautiful true story of one such situation where people looking death in the eye every day try to find love and a degree of happiness instead. The characters are developed very well and the author paints a chillingly realistic picture of the events and feelings the prisoners experience. A pleasure to read as well as being both educational and touching. It also puts things into perspective. Essential!
