What a beautiful story and such strong characters. Reading this story would have been difficult enough without knowing the characters in the story were actually real; it is hard to believe people have ever had to endure such hardship. The author tells the story so well and has let Lale and Gita’s inspirational story live on in the hearts and minds of others. I found some parts very tricky to read as I felt so much anger and heartbreak when hearing of such a personal account of history. However, in the end, love conquered all. The story ends on an inspirational note; they both said that they would leave the camp and live their lives together which they most certainly did. Their love for one another, and the courage they both held, saved them.
