This book is hauntinghly poignant, it's unique standpoint reveals stories and horrors on a personal level. The fact that the Tattooist of Auschwitz, not only survived, but allowed his story to be known and read by the public, is a treasure that cannot be taken lightly, that this is a true rendition and not a novel is powerful, moving and makes you question everything you know about life, human suffering and survival.
The story is written in simple but effective prose, allowing the reader to share the horrors and snippets of hope that transpire throughout the book. To read this book is to give new appreciation for what you do have, to understand and be amazed at how far a human can actually suffer and still remain human, and finally never to forget the true atrocities of the Nazi Regime in Europe, their treatment of Jews, Gypsies, political prisoners, anyone they deemed less than themselves. If this book leaves you with a need to practice tolerance and acceptance, of others however different, then I feel it has done it's job.
