This book is a brutality honest real life account of one man’s time at the concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau and what he has to do to survive - his story opens up your eyes to various horrors that you may or may not already be aware of that occurred both at Auschwitz and also on the train journey that took the prisoners to the camp.
At Auschwitz, we see the journey Lale take whilst operating as the tattooist. We see him meet his wife-to-be and we see him battle to use his higher position to help keep her and her friends alive.
This book made me feel so many things and I’ll forever be grateful to Heather Morris for writing up Lale’s story and for Lale for being willing enough to tell it.
