The book follows Lale, a young man, who is taken to Auschwitz-
Birkenau and was chosen to be that tattooist of the camp. It tells the true story of how Lale tattooed newcomers at the camp, how he met Gita, the love of his life and everything to do with his life at the camp. It tells a story that I believe hasn't been told before, it was based off the true story of Gita and Lale and at the end of the book, there are even some photos of the couple which made the story even more poignant. It was incredibly moving but handled the topic very delicately. The book also helped to educate readers, for example I did not know about the area called 'Canada' at Auschwitz-Birkenau until I read this book. Overall, 'The Tattooist of Auschwitz' was an incredibly moving book, that told a previously untold story and also helped to educate the reader. I'd reccomend it to anyone interested in history but also just as an incredibly important book to read.
