The way it is wrote for me really pulled on my heartstrings knowing what some of my great grandparents went through being prisoners of war. Them also having numbers tattooed on their arms.
The author kept me wanting to read more when Lale's relationships began to grow with people. What he had to do in order to survive.
I honestly recommend this book to many, especially to my generation as schools these days fail to teach history regarding prisoners of war.
This is a book I will read again and again and give to my daughter when she is old enough to read too. The emotions you have towards this book are amazing, i felt sadness, happiness, relief all while reading this book. You grow to love some of the characters in this story and hope and pray they survive, tears have also been shed while reading this book.
