This is a really moving true story that follows the Tattooist of Auschwitz, Lale Sokolov who was imprisoned in 1942 and falls in love with Gita whose arm he is tattooing upon her arrival at the concentration camp. It shows the horrible treatment that Lale is subject too and the brutality of the concentration camp. It is really hard to summaries the book as it is based on an account of Lale's life. The way the story is told is chilling and allows you to connect to the characters as they are real people. The writing style of the book allows for easy reading of a horrific event. I manged to read the book really quickly and pass it on to others as it was really good. I liked that at the back of the book it had photographs of Lale showing that he was able to enjoy his life after leaving Auschwitz. The book is an eye opener and an accessible way for people to read about the holocaust which is why I gave it five stars.
