The Tattooist of Auschwitz is a hauntingly brilliant piece of writing. It hooks you in straight away and ensures that you dont forget how real the situation that the characters go through is. The main character, Lale, is very likeable and you find yourself rooting for him from the beginning - not only for him to survive the terrible ordeal he goes through but also for him to reach his goals and keep his humanity.

The writing style is perfect for this kind of story, wherein, it has a trye storytelling feel to it, as if you're listening to the people themselves tell the story of their history.

It is heartbreaking and enlightening, my heart was in my mouth for the entire book but i could not put it down. If you enjoy historical books about love and loss then this book is for you.
