Such a heartbreaking and heartwarming story

This book was so utterly heartbreaking and yet uplifting at the same time. Reading about what this man went through and how many times he nearly escaped death was unbelievable. How someone can be in such a dire situation and still be thinking about how he can help others and going to such lengths to take care of everyone else around him is inspiring. I liked how the author also shared her interview notes and her experience of hearing it first hand from Lale, he seemed so at peace with it all and so desperately wanted to be with his late wife. It's so important to have first hand accounts like this out in the world so we don't forget some of the horrendous things that people were forced to endure and this book does that.
