It was a very gripping book but harrowing at the same time. The deprivation was well described and how looks and actions could define the outcome. A good young adult history read for anyone studying the Holocaust. The characters were well described, especially their backgrounds and how they came to deal with the situation they found themselves in.
The braveness and resilience of the prisoners was well described and at times even the humanity of some of the guards came through too.
A very well told story with extremely touching moments and certainly a book that will have a lasting impression on me and, I imagine, anyone else who reads it.
The personal additions at the end made it a book to remember.
