I'll start by saying I'm a support worker and I would a lot of hours leaving me often too little time to read. I started this book on Tuesday. It is now Friday and I've finished the epilogues. It is so refreshing and deeply moving to read something from a perspective of love, friendship and humour. Lale Sokolov and Gita Sokolov have an incredible story to tell. I often favour books based around the period of world war 2, and this one certainly sticks out among the rest. It's a cliche to discuss "how the holocaust made us stronger", though in thousands of cases truthful. Lale is honest about the times he breaks, but you can really tell the kind of person he is, from the things he considers more important to mention. Beautiful.
