This is an absolutely amazing book. An extremely detailed, sometimes difficult to read account of an awful period of history.
It tells the story of Lale Sokolov, who is forced by the nazis to tattoo prisoner numbers onto the prisoners who are marked for survival. Its a story of him struggling with his job, trying to comfort the prisoners and I’m meeting and falling in love with Gita.
It’s a book that reminds you how much it can mean to have people around you to support you. How strong love is, and how it can make everything seem easier.
It’s a fantastic book, I would highly recommend it to anyone that wants to read a true account of the Second World War from a personal perspective. A*. Fantastic.
