It’s been a while since i read this book, but i’m still not able to fully process what happened. The story is beautifully written, and i found the brutal insight into this historical event weirdly interesting (especially since i think this story is based on someone’s actual experience?). The writing style, although the chapters were long and i found it difficult to memorise some of the names, was super easy to follow- so much so that i almost forgot i was reading at some times. I also found it super easy to get attached to certain characters; i don’t even want to attempt to think about what happened to the group of friends that the main character encountered- i will literally sob.
Overall though, this book hade hooked from the start and is about a topic that i find incredibly interesting, no matter how brutal or weird it may seem. It left me with a sense of shock and urgency to share this book with others and desperately longing for a sequel of some sort (i’m pretty sure there is one now).
I would definitely recommend this book to everyone
