I really like the opening to The Temple House Vanishing. The manner of Victoria's death, along with the comments from the unnamed journalist (and the book's blurb), immediately intrigue the reader. The premise of the story is unusual and gripping, and the writing style is very immediate and engaging. These early chapters leave the reader wanting to know more, both about what happened in the past and what is going on in the present.
