I was drawn to this book by the beautiful cover - a dark background and ivy leaves give an impression of impending doom. The beginning of the novel adds to this. The writing is beautifully descriptive summoning up the sense of the coastline and the imposing Temple House. It is easy to feel the awe and unease a new student would feel on arrival at the convent-led school. Switching between past and present adds to the intrigue. I cannot wait to read on.
