Gripping start
I really enjoyed this extract. There is not a huge amount that ties what's in the opening chapters of the book to the blurb, which I definitely prefer, it leaves you wondering how these characters and this strand of the story could connect with what is to be the main arc.
The writing is concise and evocative of a time and place. Having grown up in Ireland, I felt like I was walking into my own school to collect exam results had even had the exact same breakfast with my own mum.
Would like to read more of this and see how the story of this young girl connects with the main story line.
