The Temple House Vanishing is a strange mix of a book. It begins with a few pages from the perspective of a journalist then swiftly moves back in time with Louisa narrating and describing her experiences arriving and trying to integrate into life as a scholarship pupil at a highly regarded but fairly insular boarding school. It isn't the easiest of starts for Louisa but when she meets Victoria her life starts to change.

This book reminded me of childhood Enid Blyton books initially but with a darker twist. The story moves along at a decent pace but with a foreboding undertone. This would make a very good dramatisation and could be adapted well for television! This is a promising debut and I look forward to reading more from Rachel Donohue.
