This started out as a slow burner for me but then I was hooked! 25 years ago a teacher and his pupil go missing and haven't been seen since - on the anniversary of the disappearance a reporter tries to find any further clues as to what might have happened - the chapters are told from the points of view of the reporter, Victoria ( a fellow school girl) and Louisa (the missing girl). For me it was a very dark and intense story set in a boarding school run by nuns - its an emotive story about friendships, obsessions, teenage angst and rivalry. It reminded me of Picnic at Hanging rock about the disappearance of the schoolgirls in Australia in the atmospheric aspect. I loved this book and kept thinking that I knew where it was going and the ending was a surprise to me. Lovely writing that really captured the emotion of the story.
