The plot focuses on Louisa who is from a broken home and is sent to Temple House boarding school. It is here that she meets Victoria and art teacher Mr Lavelle. Bonds are formed between the three of them, which results in feelings of jealousy and rage. Louisa and Mr Lavelle end up disappearing in a mystery that remains unsolved over the years. The book goes back and forth through time, with a journalist narrating the story in the present time. It was well written for a debut, but I really struggled to get into this book if I’m honest. There were some good plot twists, and it wasn’t a storyline you could guess, but I really feel it was missing the ingredient to make it a page turner. The characters were ok, relatable in ways but annoying in others.
