For me this was a very compelling read - a modern mix of Malory Towers nostalgia mixed with mystery and teenage angst. The Temple House Vanishing tells the story of Louisa, a gifted scholarship girl, who joins a prestigious boarding school as a senior pupil. Whilst there she meets and befriends Victoria, a rich enigmatic girl who isn’t quite like the others. The story is told from several perspectives - the present day journalist writing a series of articles on the 25 year anniversary of Louisa’s disappearance, and from Louisa herself. There is a palpable gloominess and a sense of foreboding throughout the book. The story moves along well and keeps the reader engaged. A good read but particularly enjoyable for fans of thrillers who grew up reading Enid Blyton!
