This was a really enjoyable read, had some similarities to The Secret History (elite school, elite students, someone who doesn't belong and what they do to become a part of this world) whilst still very much being a new voice.
The movement of the narrative voice between the journalist who is delving into the story of a student and teacher who went missing years ago and the girl who vanished with the teacher works well, and shifts in time don't jar in the way this device sometimes can.
Similar to TSH, it's difficult to like the characters, though very easy to feel for them. Character development is strong in most cases, though there are some gaps in this element (and in the plot towards the end) that make it worthy only of four atrs rather than five. A good yarn, had me gripped.
