If you’re interested in books with dark academia vibes, then you may be interested in this one!

When Louise was awarded a scholarship for Temple House, a boarding school run by nuns in the Irish countryside, she finds herself flung into a world run by wealth. But something changes when Louise and her male art teacher go missing on the same day. Set both in the past and 25 years after their disappearances, The Temple House Vanishing tells the tale of Louise from the eyes of a journalist investigating the case.

I love books that have a boarding school setting, so I adored that aspect. The descriptions of the Gothic architecture and grounds of the school had my dark academia senses tingling. Really atmospheric – loved it. What I didn’t love so much was the pacing. As a lover of fast-paced books, I struggled with the slow burn of the story, and it was a bit too slow for me. The plot itself was solid but didn’t really offer anything new to the genre. It was an easy read with some beautiful descriptions but the story wasn’t all that I was expecting.

This satisfied my craving for dark academia for a bit, but I was hoping for something a little more from it. Loved the Gothic style of writing!
