25 years ago, Louisa won a coveted scholarship to Temple House - an elite boarding school. Here she formed a deep friendship with another of the girls at the school, Victoria.. but the girls also formed a slightly more questionable bond with their art teacher. When Louisa and the teacher then disappeared, Victoria (and many others) couldn't help but wonder if they had run away together, or if there was something more sinister afoot.

This forms the basis for our story, and I felt it made for an interesting premise. However, there was something slightly lacking for me in the middle of this book. It's told between the past and modern day, with a lot of the current story being told through news reports and investigations into what happened in the past. I found these parts just a little too slow and drawn out.

However, the overall tone of this book was impressive. Temple House made for a sinister setting, and I was intrigued to find out what happened. A good debut - and I would read more of this authors work in future.
