Well-drawn, interesting characters and intriguing set-up

I liked the way the characters of the two sisters were developed in the opening chapters and their different reasons for wanting to make changes to what their future seems to hold. There were some interesting characteristics of both sisters that will clearly come to be important later in the book. I'm intrigued to set how the author maintains the reader's interest given everyone knows what's going to happen to the Titanic.
