It is 1911 and Nora and Delia Sweeney have the chance to leave their parents and their farm in Donegal to travel to America on the Titanic, where they have been found jobs. The sisters are the opposite of each other and are not close but as disaster strikes the Titanic Delia is devastated when she sees Nora fall from the lifeboat and is lost at sea. When she arrives in New York she decides to tell Nora's employer what has happened to her but a misunderstanding means Delia decides to pass herself off as Nora. Delia is happy working as nanny to Lily O'Hanlon and over time starts to have feelings for her father, which is returned. In the meantime Nora has been rescued but has lost her memory. She is taken in by Mrs Shaw a wealthy widow and over time her memory comes back and she wants to find her sister.

The girls have many adventures including living in Texas, finding love and losing love, returning back to Ireland for a while and then back to Texas before the sisters are reunited.

I did enjoy this story and like the characters especially The sisters and their father. The few chapters set on the Titanic and during the sinking were well written. All in all a good escapist read.
