At the first look, I took an instant liking to Delia and a disliking to Nora who is shallow like her mother. I like how the story is told from the perspective of the sisters. Differences in the narratives of the two sisters tells us a lot about their characters and their values - the language is different and suggests that one is more learned.
At times I started to get annoyed with Delias pathetic attitude to life so I was glad she switched things up a bit in Texas.
Parts of it were a little far fetched - why would Mrs Shaw leave a near stranger all her money?
The ending seemed predictable. Does Nora end up joining the suffragettes?!
Overall it was an easy beach type read which was entertaining enough.
