This is a really enjoyable read, and the perfect thing to settle down with on a cold afternoon with a cup of tea and a biscuit! It is the story of sisters Delia and Nora who are offered tickets from Ireland to sail on the Titanic to New York to start new jobs and new lives. When the ship sinks and Nora is presumed dead, Delia assumes her sister’s identity and new life as governess of little Lily. Will she be able to pull this off? And what if Nora was still alive, but with no memory? As Nora’s amnesia shows signs of improving, I was gripped to see what would happen. After the woman who has taken her in dies and her memory has come back in full, Nora sets out to find Delia and claim the life that should have been hers. We shift from one sibling’s perspective to another to keep the story moving strongly, and to keep us in suspense as to what will happen. It’s also a clever blend of real-life events and background from the suffragettes to the ship that really adds authenticity.
