I’ll start by saying I love historical fiction and this book did not disappoint. I love the cover of the book and I’m glad the focus is on the sisters with the Titanic in the background, very representative of the story. The Titanic is a part of the story but definitely not the main focus. The sisters relationship is really the point of the story. This story is set between Donegal, Ireland and America. It tells the story of Nora and Delia who although sisters don't have a sisterly bond and don’t have a good relationship. A lot of this is caused by how their mother treats them. A letter arrives from New York from a distant relative requesting that one of the sisters become a governess to a young girl Lily, who has lost her mother, the family decide to let both girls go to America on the Titanic. True to history, the Titanic sinks and both girls believe the other to be dead. The story switches between the sisters with each chapter and keeps the reader really engaged. At the risk of ruining the story with spoilers I’m being very conservative with the details.
You won’t regret buying this book, it’s an easy read and keeps you interested from beginning to end.
