I really wanted to like this book a lot more than I actually do. I really connected with the subject matter - being Irish myself, the plight of Nora and Delia are one that every Irish family knows from that time. Many Irish people were on the Titanic hoping to find a better life in America and I really wish the author had maybe stuck to a more basic story model. I wish that the synopsis of the story didn't give away the twist that Nora is still alive, it would have been a lot more impactful if the reader only discovered that while reading rather than knowing it going in. I thought the bond between Delia and the child she was minding was sweet but I really wish a romance had not been thrown in between her and the child's father - it was an irrelevant storyline in my opinion. I didn't like the conflict between the sisters but I can understand its significance. Mixed feelings but I enjoyed reading it all the same!
