It is 1911 in Donegal, Ireland, and, sisters, Nora and Delia are living with their parents on their farm. They get an opportunity to travel to America on the Titanic and desperate to escape the poverty and hard life they are living they take it up. When they arrive in America they have jobs waiting for them, Nora is to become governess to a young girl in a very wealthy family, but Delia's job is not so glamorous and she is to become a maid. Excitedly they set sail but of course disaster strikes and the ship goes down. Delia makes it onto a lifeboat and to safety but Nora is believed lost. On arriving in a strange country after a traumatic journey she takes a chance on a better life by passing herself off as her sister. Delia begins to find happiness in her new life but one day Nora who did survive comes to find her....
I really enjoyed reading this book, it grabbed my attention right from the beginning, and although we all know the story of the Titanic it was interesting, and sad, imagining what it really must of been like to of been on the ship. The book has some great characters and fascinating relationships, a lovely read!
