'The Travelling Vet' is a new angle on a popular genre, the life and work of a vetinarary surgeon. The author's dedication and enthusiasm light up his story, but his emphasis on the stark realities of a vet's work, its dangers and stresses, as well as its rewards, leads his work firmly away from cosiness or sentimentality, which is the hallmark of many 'vets' stories'. He steps outside the usual range of domestic animals and takes the reader into new worlds of wild and exotic beasts. His worldwide experience definitely engaged this reader and I would thoroughly recommend this as a good read.
