How many times is the author going to tell us he wanted to be a vet since the age of 6? We have an introduction with it mentioned, then a prologue with it mentioned and it is also mentioned in Chapter 1 - we get it!
Now, I love the James Herriott books and have read them all several times over. I am not sure Mr Cranston has the necessary warmth or wit to emulate Mr Herriott but the first chapter jogs along nicely and that is really all we get here so it is hard to formulate any impression on the book - apart from his long held desire to be a vet and his obsession with Google.
