In the introduction the author stresses the importance of his interactions with the human beings who care for the animals he treats, but the extract suggests that the book will definitely be focused on the animals. I was left wanting to know more about how he overcame his struggles to qualify and about the nature of the people he met, though I guess in a work of non-fiction this could pose problems with privacy.
