From looking at the cover I never knew this would be a book I would get so engrossed in. A simple life of a vet who travelled the world and helped animals you or I could only dream about seeing in the wild - animals we could only hope to see in zoos and safari parks. The world can be a cruel place, or should I say some people can be so cruel when it comes to animals but the world needs to learn more about the birds and the beasts and learn to live and let live ..... before they all die out and become extinct so that our grandchildren and their children never know what a black or white rhino is for example. This book is the story of one vet and his work but it makes you think about the animals you see on wildlife programmes and how we don't all need to become vets to help them. A great book which I think would make a fabulous Christmas gift
