I really enjoyed this. It has lots of lovely anecdotes, some funny and others sad.
I also liked the details and information about the animals he treated, good to learn things from life span, their habitat, environment, anatomy and conservation of the species. There is also links for each on where you could go to learn more about the species he has anecdotes about. I now know Giant pandas only come into season 2 to 4 days a year and they are very selective about who they mate with!
I do not know how vets manage to deal with so many sick animals but there was definite joy in this book, of a life well-lived and it deals with treatable injuries from zoos to innoculating hundreds of cows in New Zealand.
It is very well researched and the dialogue in the stories move well.
